Well here is summer although the rain would have you believe otherwise. I have just finished my counselling training and am looking forward to using the creative energy once again for my music. Its been unusual for me not to be continually writing songs but I don’t believe in forcing creativity but prefer to wait until its really coming through easily and naturally. I recently ran a creative workshop in Scotland with 12 amazing women form all over the country. We created a safe space where we could really get creative. We danced and sang, painted, told stories and sat in silence. Its amazing how divorced many of us have become from these activities and yet for me they are so necessary for the soul. They provide endless insights into how I am, what i don’t see about myself and what I might need to change. They also allow old feelings, unresolved, guilt sadness, blame and shame to come up and be let go of. I have reda that many believe creativity is a doorway to spirituality and this was certainly my experience on that Scottish mountain. the group was so connected and loving. Even though people had their fears, they had been told they could not dance could not paint, that it was not ok to be who they are.....they still felt safe enough to let go. I have seen massive shifts since and feel sure the changes continue. What a blessing to be part of that. I am now in the office getting reday for Quest festival at the weekend at Newton Abbot. Hoping the sun will find us as many people camp there. I am running tow workshops and playing a couple of solo spots on stage at lunchtime. So looking forwrad to this. I get to play with the timing and move the songs around when I work alone and I don’t have to stick to a set list. I can just go where the feeling takes me. I like that kind of freedom. Im also planning a short tour in June next year that will entail me staying in silnce for 8 days except when I sing ecah evening. Im hoping to invite various guests and artists to join me and ecah concert will be based around a different value...starting with Peace. You can’t build much on a peaceless foundation after all.
